Caitlyn is somewhat of a unicorn. Born with a congenital heart condition, she survived two open heart surgeries before age 4. She was diagnosed with a mood disorder and anxiety in 2008.  After recovering from several hospitalizations, she went on to get a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development and then an M.A. in Psychology.

Caitlyn is also an Invisible Illness Warrior.  Diagnosed with severe and life-changing migraines in 2014, she has since been on a journey of better health and recovery despite the number of medical issues she faces.

Caitlyn has always been a writer.  She spent her high school years with Journalism as her elective.  She worked on the school paper for two years.  She was first published in 2008 after writing a poem about her dad.  She was in eighth grade.

She has since been published on other reputable sites such as The Mighty, Huffington Post, and Upworthy.

Caitlyn works tirelessly as a champion for those with mental illness and invisible or chronic illness.  She is the epitome of a spoonie, but has managed to reach the world through her writing.
